Nirvana was a legendary American rock band formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. They became one of the most influential musical acts of the 1990s and pioneers of the grunge genre. The band’s core lineup featured Kurt Cobain (vocals, guitar), Krist Novoselic (bass), and Dave Grohl (drums), who joined in 1990. Despite their short lifespan, Nirvana left a lasting legacy in music history. The band disbanded in 1994 following the tragic death of Kurt Cobain. Nevertheless, their influence endures, and Nirvana continues to inspire new generations of musicians and fans alike.
Incesticide is a compilation album of rare tracks by American rock band Nirvana, released on December 14, 1992, in Europe and December 15 in the US. The album features demos, B-sides, previously unreleased songs, and BBC Radio session recordings, including “Sliver,” “Aneurysm,” and cover songs by Devo and The Vaselines. The material spans various recording sessions, featuring four different drummers, including Dave Grohl. Kurt Cobain personally created the album artwork, which includes a poppy – a reference to his struggle with addiction. Early pressings included liner notes by Cobain condemning homophobia, racism, and misogyny. The album peaked at number 39 on the Billboard 200 and served as a key release between “Nevermind” and “In Utero.”
