The Rolling Stones is a legendary British rock band founded in 1962 that has become a symbol of an era and one of the most influential bands in the history of modern music. Exile On Main St. is the band's tenth studio album, released on May 12, 1972, and is the pinnacle of The Rolling Stones' creative maturity. Recorded in unconventional conditions at the Villa Nellcôte in the south of France while escaping from British taxes, the album is characterized by a raw, chaotic, but surprisingly emotional sound. All the tracks were created in a semi-improvised atmosphere of nightly sessions, with the participation of numerous musicians and friends of the band. This two-album release became a manifesto of rock 'n' roll freedom, combining blues, gospel, country and rock in a typical Stones style. Despite the mixed first reviews, Exile On Main St. later gained the status of one of the best albums of all time and became a regular feature of the band's concert programs. Classic songs include “Tumbling Dice”, “Sweet Virginia” and “Happy” with Keith Richards' vocals. In 2012, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and Rolling Stone magazine has repeatedly recognized it as the band's greatest achievement.
