Nina Simone (Eunice Kathleen Waymon) was a prominent American singer, songwriter, pianist, composer, arranger, and civil rights activist. She was born in a family of eight children in North Carolina. She is known for her diverse musical style, which spanned classical, folk, gospel, blues, jazz, R&B and pop. She began her career playing the piano in a nightclub in Atlantic City and later became known as a jazz vocalist. Recorded more than 40 albums, among which "Little Girl Blue" debuted.
