Soundgarden is one of the main representatives of the Seattle grunge scene, formed in 1984 and pioneering a style that combines hard rock energy with dark, emotionally charged lyrics. Led by the charismatic vocalist Chris Cornell, the band was distinguished by technically complex arrangements, unconventional rhythm and deep sound. After their breakthrough with Badmotorfinger and the huge success of Superunknown, which won them their first Grammy, Soundgarden became an icon of the 1990s. Despite their breakup in 1997, their contribution to the development of alternative music remains fundamental.

King Animal is Soundgarden's sixth and final studio album, released in 2012 after a 16-year hiatus. This comeback became a significant moment for both fans and the band, as King Animal skillfully combines the signature heaviness of early releases with a more melodic and thoughtful approach to composition. The album was recorded in collaboration with producer Adam Kasper, with whom Soundgarden worked back in the 90s. The compositions on the album range from aggressive riffs to emotionally charged ballads, reflecting both the band's maturity and experimental spirit. King Animal also became the last album before Cornell's tragic death in 2017, which added a special emotional depth to the release.
