Sting (real name — Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) is an English musician, actor, and activist, born on October 2, 1951. He became famous as the frontman and bassist for the band The Police, which gained global popularity from 1977 to 1986. After the band's breakup, Sting launched a successful solo career, blending elements of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, and world music in his sound. Sting has received 17 Grammy Awards for his work, including Song of the Year for "Every Breath You Take." His career is also highlighted by numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and four Academy Award nominations. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With The Police and as a solo artist, Sting has sold over 100 million records.
My Songs is the fourteenth studio album by British musician Sting, released on May 24, 2019. It is the second album to feature new renditions of previously released songs (after 2010's Symphonicities). The album includes fifteen reworked versions of Sting's most famous tracks, some of which have been remixed, while others are entirely re-recorded. Sting described the new versions as "reconstructed," "refitted," and "reframed" with a contemporary focus. The album was supported by the My Songs tour, which began in May 2019.
