Beatles for Sale is the fourth studio album by the British rock band The Beatles, released on December 4, 1964, on the Parlophone label. The album features eight original songs and six cover versions. Influences for the album included country music and Bob Dylan, with whom the band members met in New York in August 1964. The album is characterized by darker musical moods and more introspective lyrics. Although it was not widely popular in the US until 1987, it was successful in the UK and Australia.
