The Cardigans – a Swedish rock band formed in 1992 in Jönköping. The band consists of Peter Svensson (guitar), Magnus Sveningsson (bass guitar), Bengt Lagerberg (drums), Lars-Olof Johansson (keyboards), and Nina Persson (vocals). Their debut album "Emmerdale" (1994) gained popularity in Sweden and Japan. The album "Life" (1995) brought the band international recognition. Worldwide fame came with the song "Lovefool" from the album "First Band on the Moon" (1996), which was featured in the soundtrack of the film "Romeo + Juliet". Other well-known singles include "Erase/Rewind" and "My Favourite Game" from Gran Turismo (1998). After several breaks, the band released albums such as Long Gone Before Daylight (2003) and Super Extra Gravity (2005). Overall, they have sold over 15 million albums worldwide.
Gran Turismo – the fourth studio album by Swedish band The Cardigans, released on October 19, 1998. The album features a darker, more atmospheric sound with elements of electronics. Producer Tore Johansson noted that the recording has a cold, defined sound, without natural reverberations, setting it apart from the band's earlier work. The album gained popularity and was nominated for several awards. Gran Turismo sold over three million copies worldwide.
