Tori Amos is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. She began composing musical pieces at an early age, winning a scholarship to the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University at five years old, becoming the youngest person ever to receive such recognition. However, she had to leave her studies at the age of eleven due to "musical insubordination." Tori initially was the lead singer of the short-lived pop-rock group Y Kant Tori Read before achieving success as a solo artist in the 1990s. Her songs cover themes of intimacy, feminism, politics, and religion. Tori has received numerous awards, including Grammy and MTV VMA nominations, as well as an Echo Klassik for her album Night of Hunters.

Under the Pink is the second studio album by Tori Amos, released in January 1994. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, propelled by the hit single "Cornflake Girl," and reached number 12 in the US. It was certified double Platinum in the US by the RIAA in October 1999 for sales exceeding 2 million copies and also earned Platinum status in the UK in 2007. Under the Pink was included in Blender magazine's list of 500 CDs You Must Own and was named one of the greatest albums of the 1990s by Rolling Stone.
