Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt (5 May 1900 – 28 May 1973) is a prominent German conductor and composer who worked in German opera houses and, after World War II, led the Northwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra. Known for transparent orchestral textures, precise rhythm, and avoidance of superfluous gestures, he left a significant recorded legacy of classical and world music.
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1842, is considered one of the best in the world. It is based at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, and consists of musicians from the Vienna State Opera. Members are selected through a three-year probationary period, after which they can apply for a position. The orchestra does not accept musicians over the age of 35 and has a mandatory retirement age of 65. To receive a full pension, 30 years of service are required.
