Arturia has officially unveiled an updated version of its popular hybrid synthesizer — the MiniFreak Vocoder Edition. The new model features not only a bold white-and-orange design, but also a key addition — a 16-band vocoder with a flexible gooseneck microphone included.
MiniFreak Vocoder Edition is a six-voice polyphonic synthesizer with dual digital sound engines, 31 oscillator modes, analog filters, and an advanced modulation system. Now, this instrument doesn’t just create complex textures — it can literally “speak” with the musician’s voice.

The vocoder in this edition offers two operating modes: Ext In Vocoder lets you process any external audio source (including vocals, drums, guitars, etc.), while the Self Vocoder applies the effect to the synth’s own sounds. Users can also switch between four vocoder effect styles — Clean, Vintage, Narrow, and Gated — quickly transforming the character of the sound. Three dedicated knobs allow for even more fine-tuning — from glossy Daft Punk-style robotic vocals to abstract, resonant layers.
In addition to the impressive vocoder features, the MiniFreak Vocoder Edition retains all the capabilities of its predecessor: a flexible modulation matrix, sequencer automation, an arpeggiator with Spice & Dice functions, three effect slots, and full compatibility with the virtual MiniFreak V version for DAW integration. All presets and settings can be easily synced between the hardware and software versions of the synth.
This instrument is designed for both experimental musicians and sound designers looking for unique vocal effects or new ways to integrate voice into music. From soft harmonies to distorted drum loops — the MiniFreak Vocoder adapts to any style or creative approach.
The Arturia MiniFreak Vocoder Edition has already caught the attention of fans and performers alike — vocalist Daniela Pes showcased the new model in a live performance, impressing with her blend of vocal experimentation and synthesis.
