Strobe Rega Strobe Kit

Rega Strobe Kit is designed to evaluate the rotation speed of any turntable. The handheld strobe produces 100Hz pulsed light for use with the included 180-line strobe disk. Designed as the perfect partner for the speed-variable Rega Neo PSU. Simply place the included strobe disc directly onto the turntable mat. When the turntable is running at 33⅓, 45 or 78 rpm, hold the strobe LED directly above the lines to judge the speed of the turntable.

How to use a Rega strobe light

     With the turntable spinning and the speed set to 33 rpm, place the strobe disk over the record spindle directly onto the turntable mat
     Hold the strobe approximately 2-3 cm from the lines on the disc
     If the lines freeze and remain stable, the player is running at the correct speed
     If the lines on the disc move slowly clockwise, it means the player is running fast
     If the lines on the disc move slowly counterclockwise, it means the player is running slowly

Advice

To ensure accurate readings, it is recommended that you keep a reference point, such as the tip of a pencil, near the lines while rotating the dial to easily determine whether the lines are stable or rotating. If the turntable or power supply is adjustable, you can adjust the turntable's rotation speed until the lines are stable.

Tips for non-adjustable Rega turntables

If your turntable does not have a speed controller, first try replacing the drive belt. Drive belts can stretch over time, causing slight variations in speed. Noticeable speed fluctuations are most likely due to mechanical problems. Check the oil in the center hub bearings. If your Rega turntable uses a steel ball bearing, make sure it is inside a brass bearing housing (not used on the RP8 or RP10).
