Compared to the base Pro-Ject T1 model, the Phono SB version includes a built-in high quality Pro-Ject MM stage phono stage and an electronic 33/45 rpm switch. In a drive system where most alternative turntables can use unregulated DC motors with large speed fluctuations, the T1 Phono SB uses a proven AC motor electronic speed control system.
The stylish case is CNC-machined and contains no plastic parts, as well as being carefully designed to avoid voids inside, thus avoiding unwanted vibrations inside the case. Continuing this philosophy, the glass plate also has a heavy zero resonance construction. This avoids the drawbacks of plastic or light steel rims. Finally, specially selected turntable feet also isolate the T1 well from vibrations. The motor drives a belt system mounted on a newly designed subplatter. The tonearm has an effective length of 8.6". This one-piece aluminum tonearm also features low friction bearings for absolute precision in performance. The T1 comes pre-configured with an Ortofon OM 5E moving magnet cartridge and is ready to use right out of the box.

The T1 comes with an OM 5E moving magnet cartridge equipped with an elliptical diamond stylus tip. This is a true Hi-Fi playback system that doesn't have any corners.

The tonearm is a one-piece construction made entirely of aluminium. Together with low friction bearings, this guarantees absolute precision in use. The built-in head creates no additional vibrations and is a big advantage over other removable, screw-on or adhesive heads. The belt-driven motor is mounted on a newly designed subplatter which is mounted in an ultra-precise 0.001mm main bearing with hardened stainless steel axle and brass bushing. Thus, along with the electronic motor control, the T1 provides smooth, anti-resonant tonearm and cartridge rotation.
