The Mothers of Invention is an American rock band founded in 1964 by Frank Zappa. The band is known for its satirical lyrics and eclectic approach to music.
Cruising with Ruben & the Jets is the fourth studio album by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention, released in 1968. The album is stylized as a doo-wop and rock 'n' roll album of the 1950s. Zappa uses the pseudonym Ruben Sano, and the members of The Mothers of Invention are depicted on the cover as anthropomorphized animals. The music on the album is simple and fun, with lyrics about love, dancing, and life on the road. Cruising with Ruben & the Jets is not a typical album for Zappa, but it still contains his individual style and unique musical ideas.
