The soundtrack to the film "Pulp Fiction" (1994) by Quentin Tarantino was released on September 27, 1994. This album is very unconventional as no traditional orchestral score was commissioned for the film. Instead, a mix of American rock and roll, surf music, pop, and soul was used. The soundtrack consists of nine songs from the film, four tracks with dialogue snippets followed by songs, and three tracks with dialogue alone.
Tarantino selected the songs himself, with some suggested by his friends. The album features famous tracks like "Misirlou" by Dick Dale, which plays during the opening credits, and "Jungle Boogie" by Kool & the Gang. Additionally, the soundtrack also includes dialogues from the characters.
The soundtrack had a huge influence on the music industry, particularly helping to revive surf rock and certain artists, as well as inspiring the use of surf music in commercials.
