Anne-Sophie Mutter is a German violinist born on June 29, 1963, in Rheinfelden, Baden-Württemberg. She started playing the violin at the age of five and studied in Germany and Switzerland. Supported early in her career by Herbert von Karajan, Mutter made her orchestral debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1977. Over her career, she has recorded over 50 albums and performed as a soloist with leading orchestras worldwide. She has received numerous awards, including four Grammy Awards, and has founded a foundation to support young musicians.

Bach, Bologne, Previn, Vivaldi, Williams – recorded in the summer of 2023 at the Vienna Musikverein just before Anne-Sophie Mutter's 60th birthday. This album showcases her virtuosity with her ensemble, Mutter's Virtuosi. The repertoire includes works from Vivaldi and Bach to Previn and John Williams, as well as music by Joseph Bologne, the son of a French plantation owner and a Senegalese slave, who was famous in Paris not only as a composer and violinist, but also as a dancer, horseman, and fencer.
