Description

Bob Marley and the Wailers were a Jamaican band that played ska, rocksteady, and reggae. The group was formed in 1963 by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. It became iconic in the development of reggae music and is known for hits like "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up", and "Get Up, Stand Up". In 1974, Tosh and Wailer left the group due to disagreements with the label and ideological differences. Marley continued with a new lineup and released seven more albums. The group disbanded after Marley’s death in 1981.

Catch a Fire is the fifth studio album by The Wailers, released in April 1973 and their first on Island Records. The album marked a turning point for the band, launching their international success. Recording began in Jamaica after failed attempts to work with JAD Records and a conflict with CBS, which left the group stranded in London. Producer Chris Blackwell gave them an advance to return home and finish the album. Later, Marley returned to London with the tapes, and Blackwell added guitar overdubs at Island Studios. The album's unique blend of Jamaican sound and rock elements created a recognizable style. It features nine tracks, with two written by Peter Tosh and the rest by Bob Marley. Although Bunny Wailer isn’t credited as a songwriter, the writing was a collective process. The songs address social injustice, poverty, and love. Catch a Fire entered the Billboard charts and was later recognized as one of the greatest reggae albums of all time.

The album contains 9 tracks.
