Use Your Illusion II is the fourth studio album by the American band Guns N' Roses, released on September 17, 1991, alongside Use Your Illusion I. The album was commercially more successful, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and selling over 770,000 copies in its first week. It is the last album to feature guitarist Izzy Stradlin and drummer Steven Adler. Use Your Illusion II features more political lyrics compared to their previous works, with songs like "Civil War," "Get in the Ring," and a cover of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." The songs were mostly written after the album "Appetite for Destruction". The album also includes genre experiments such as funk metal in the track "Locomotive," and "My World" was recorded in just three hours under the influence of psilocybin mushrooms. The album's mixing process was marked by conflicts with producers, especially over attempts to replace live drums with samples, which led to a change in sound engineer.
