Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra – one of the most famous and prestigious orchestras in the world, founded in 1882 in Berlin. Under the direction of such famous conductors as Hans von Bülow and Wilhelm Furtwängler, the orchestra gained international recognition. Herbert von Karajan made a significant contribution to the development of the orchestra, turning it into one of the best in the world. After World War II, the orchestra faced challenges in rebuilding, but quickly returned to active concert life. Since 1963, the Philharmonie concert hall has become its main venue, which has become a symbol of the orchestra. In the modern era, under the leadership of Claudio Abbado, Simon Rattle, and Kirill Petrenko, the orchestra has expanded its repertoire and introduced new technologies, particularly through the Digital Concert Hall platform, which allows listeners worldwide to watch concerts online.
Johannes Brahms – a German composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor of the late Romantic period, known for his combination of classical forms with emotional depth and complex polyphony. Born into a musical family in Hamburg, he began performing and composing music at an early age, later touring Europe as a pianist. Brahms gained recognition through the support of Robert and Clara Schumann, with whom he had long and deep relationships. He never married, fully dedicating himself to music. In his works, Brahms combined traditional structures with innovative approaches, which caused debates in the "War of the Romantics" – a conflict between followers of Wagner and more conservative artists. Settling in Vienna, he actively conducted and popularized serious classical music. His legacy includes symphonies, concertos, requiems, chamber works, and numerous songs that remain relevant in the 21st century.
Eugen Jochum – a German conductor, known primarily for his interpretations of works by Anton Bruckner, Carl Orff, and Johannes Brahms. Born into a Catholic family near Augsburg, he studied organ and piano from a young age before focusing on conducting. Jochum debuted with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, quickly gaining recognition, particularly through his performances of Bruckner's symphonies. During the Nazi era, he worked in Hamburg, not joining the party and performing works by banned composers. After the war, he became the founder and first principal conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and collaborated with leading orchestras in Amsterdam, London, and Dresden. Jochum left a significant legacy of recordings, especially his cycles of Bruckner, Brahms, and Beethoven symphonies. His interpretations are valued for their depth, musical sensitivity, and stylistic fidelity. He passed away in Munich in 1987.
