Stereophonics is a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley. The band consists of Kelly Jones (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Richard Jones (bass guitar, harmonica, backing vocals), Adam Zindani (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums, percussion), and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). The band has released thirteen studio albums, nine of which reached number one in the UK, and has achieved worldwide success with over 10 million copies sold. Stereophonics are known for their classic British rock sound and “whiskey vocals,” as well as their energetic live performances at numerous music festivals across the UK and Ireland.
Just Enough Education to Perform is the third studio album by Stereophonics, released on 11 April 2001. The album topped the UK Albums Chart, selling 140,000 copies, and spawned three top-ten singles: “Mr. Writer,” “Have a Nice Day,” and “Step on My Old Size Nines.” After being re-released in 2002, the album included the additional track “Handbags and Gladrags.” The album received mixed to positive reviews from critics and was certified five-times platinum in the UK, becoming one of the band’s most successful releases.
