Rex, an English rock band founded in 1967 in London by frontman, composer and guitarist Mark Bolan, is one of the most important and influential bands in the history of rock music. The band began as an acoustic folk-rock duo called Tyrannosaurus Rex. In 1969, the band's sound changed, becoming more energetic and danceable. In the new lineup, T. Rex released the albums "Electric Warrior" (1971) and "The Slider" (1972), which became commercial hits and made the band one of the most popular in the UK.
Rex became one of the pioneers of glam rock, which was characterized by a vivid stage image, the use of space and fantasy motifs in the lyrics, and an electrifying sound. The band had a huge influence on artists such as David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, Kiss, and Queen. In 1977, Marc Bolan died in a car accident at the age of 29. However, T. Rex's music continues to be popular to this day. The band is considered one of the most important and influential bands in the history of rock music.
