Direct box (DI Box) BSS AR-133

The BSS AR-133 is a professional active DI box that ensures reliable and high-quality audio signal transmission from instruments or other sources to a mixing console. It operates via phantom power (+20 to +48 V) or a built-in 9V battery, automatically switching in case phantom power is lost, ensuring uninterrupted operation.

The AR-133 features a rugged aluminum case with shock-resistant polyurethane side cheeks that protect the unit and give it a recognizable appearance. Its curved chassis allows for clean cable routing underneath the device.

Input connectors include two parallel 1/4" jack sockets and an XLR socket, enabling conversion of unbalanced signals to balanced. The XLR output is transformer-balanced. The AR-133 includes a pad switch offering attenuation levels of 0, -20, or -40 dB to accommodate various signal strengths. A ground lift switch is available to eliminate ground loop issues.

This DI box uses an enhanced audio circuit from the renowned AR-116 model, known for its excellent sound quality, especially with acoustic and bass guitars. The AR-133 also performs well with keyboards, DJ gear, amplifiers, and other signal sources.

In addition to traditional use, the AR-133 can act as an active signal balancer. An LED indicates power status: steady light for phantom power, blinking for battery power.

With low distortion (< 0.005%), a wide frequency range (30 Hz – 20 kHz), low noise (< -105 dB), and compact dimensions, the BSS AR-133 is an ideal choice for professional musicians, sound engineers, and recording studios.
