Description

B.B. King (Riley B. King; September 16, 1925 – May 14, 2015) was an American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer. He was known for his sophisticated solo style using fluid string bending, shimmering vibrato, and staccato, which influenced many future electric guitar blues players. King earned the nickname "The King of Blues" and was considered one of the "Three Kings of Blues Guitar" (alongside Albert King and Freddie King). His contribution to music was so significant that AllMusic called him "the single most important electric guitarist of the latter half of the 20th century." Throughout his career, B.B. King performed over 200 concerts a year, even into his 70s.

Live in Cook County Jail is a live album by B.B. King, recorded on September 10, 1970, at Cook County Jail in Chicago and released in 1971. At the request of jail warden Winston Moore, King and his band performed for an audience of 2,117 inmates, mostly young African Americans. The album features mostly slow blues tracks, many of which were previously hits for King. Live in Cook County Jail spent 33 weeks on the Billboard Top LPs chart, reaching number 25, and topped the Top R&B chart — King's only album to do so. The album received positive reviews and is regarded as one of King's best, while the jail performance inspired future free concerts in correctional facilities and co-founding of the Foundation for Inmate Rehabilitation.

The album contains 8 tracks.
