Description

The Cranberries are an Irish rock band formed in 1989 in Limerick, Ireland. The band was originally called The Cranberry Saw Us and consisted of singer Niall Quinn, guitarist Noel Hogan, bassist Mike Hogan, and drummer Fergal Lawler. However, in 1990, Niall Quinn was replaced by Dolores O'Riordan, and the band was renamed The Cranberries. Musically, the band classified themselves as alternative rock, but their sound also includes elements of indie rock, jangle pop, dream pop, folk rock, post-punk, and pop rock. In 1991, The Cranberries signed with Island Records and released their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? (1993), which became a commercial success.

The album No Need to Argue by the Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries was released on October 3, 1994, on Island Records. "No Need to Argue" features one of the band's most famous songs, "Zombie". The album's mood is darker and grittier than the band's debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, released a year earlier. The track "Zombie", written by Dolores O'Riordan, tells the story of the 1993 IRA terror attack in Warrington, which left two children dead. Another song, "The Icicle Melts" was written against the backdrop of the James Bulger case. The album cover was created with the participation of photographer Andy Earle. The band decided to dress up and use the same couch that appeared on the cover of their debut album.

The album contains 13 tracks.

  • Side A:
    • Ode to My Family
    • I Can't Be with You
    • Twenty One
    • Zombie
    • Empty
    • Everything I Said
    • The Icicle Melts
  • Side B:
    • Disappointment
    • Ridiculous Thoughts
    • Dreaming My Dreams
    • Yeat's Grave
    • Daffodil Lament
    • No Need to Argue
