Katya Chilly (real name – Kateryna Petrivna Boholyubova, née Kondratenko) is a Ukrainian singer, musician, and composer born on July 12, 1978, in Kyiv. Her artistic journey began in childhood with a performance at the “Children of Chornobyl” concert, which marked her first serious appearance on stage. In her youth, Katya actively studied music, playing the piano and cello, singing in a folk choir, and later pursued folklore studies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. In 1992, she won the Grand Prix at the “Fant-loto Nadiya” contest, launching her professional music career. In 1996, she adopted the stage name Katya Chilly and began working on an experimental project combining ancient Slavic folklore with modern electronic music. Over the years, she has released four albums and gained recognition for her distinctive musical style.
Ya – Molodaya is Katya Chilly’s second full-length release, which debuted in 2006 and quickly made an impact on the Ukrainian music scene. The album captivated listeners with its unique fusion of electronic sound and authentic Ukrainian folk motifs. This bold musical experiment was well-received by critics, who praised the depth of her vocals and refined electronic arrangements with rock elements, as well as by everyday listeners, for whom the album evoked childhood memories in a fresh, modern form.
The album includes 2 LPs with 14 tracks.
