Description

Louis Armstrong is a legendary American jazz musician, trumpeter and vocalist who is rightly called a pioneer of modern jazz. His trumpet playing style, filled with warmth and emotion, laid the foundations for solo improvisation in jazz, and his husky, recognizable voice made him an icon not only in music but also in culture in general. In the 1920s, he became famous for his recordings with the Hot Five and Hot Seven ensembles, which became jazz classics. Armstrong not only created music, he personified it, demonstrating a rare combination of virtuosity, humor, and deep humanity.

Oscar Peterson is a prominent Canadian jazz pianist, known worldwide as one of the most technical and sophisticated jazz musicians of the twentieth century. His brilliant career spanned more than six decades and included hundreds of recordings, numerous Grammy Awards, and thousands of performances around the world. Peterson had the unique ability to combine academic precision with a deep blues sensibility, creating vivid and sincere interpretations of jazz standards. His collaborations with the best jazz artists, from Ella Fitzgerald to Herbie Hancock, cemented his reputation as a true master of instrumental dialog.

Louis Armstrong Meets Oscar Peterson, a studio album recorded in 1957 and released in 1959, is a unique combination of two musical worlds: Armstrong's expressive vocals and trumpet and Peterson's sophisticated, deep piano playing. This recording is not just a collaboration, but a sophisticated musical dialog between two titans of jazz. The album covers classic American standards performed with a subtle interpretation, rich in nuances, harmonies and warmth. The music sounds natural, as if there is an almost telepathic understanding between the musicians. Combining Armstrong's vocals with the skillful support of Peterson's trio, this album is an example of chamber jazz sound.

The album contains 12 tracks:

  • A1. That Old Feeling
