Something New is the third studio release by The Beatles on Capitol Records and the band's fifth American album overall, released on July 20, 1964, specifically for the North American market. The record includes eight tracks from the British version of "A Hard Day's Night," as well as the songs "Slow Down" and "Matchbox" from the "Long Tall Sally" EP, and the German-language version of "I Want to Hold Your Hand." The album is notable for featuring true stereo sound on all tracks and alternative mixes of certain songs on the mono version. It quickly gained popularity, spending nine weeks at number two on the American Billboard chart, and over time became a valuable collector's item, especially the European copies issued for American military bases. CD reissues took place in 2004 and 2014 as part of The Capitol Albums and The U.S. Albums box sets.
